Air conditioning has changed

It's not just something you switch on for two hot weeks in July.

A modern air conditioning system can cool a bedroom on a hot summer night and provide warm air to the same room when the temperature drops.

Each room can be controlled independently, so you're heating or cooling the space you're actually using rather than necessarily changing the temperature throughout the whole house.

From bedrooms and home offices to loft conversions, garden rooms and large open-plan extensions, we'll help you choose a system that suits the room and the way you use it.

01

Cool

Bring the room down to a comfortable temperature when the weather gets hot.

02

Heat

Reverse-cycle operation means the same system can provide room heating too.

03

Control

Set the temperature for the room you're using rather than treating the whole house as one zone.

04

Live with it

Quiet indoor operation and modern controls make AC practical for everyday home use.

Where does it work?

Put comfort where you actually need it.

We size the system around the room rather than treating every space the same.

Bedroom

Sleep comfortably

Useful for rooms that stay warm into the evening or become uncomfortable during hot weather.

Lounge

Your main living space

Heating and cooling with its own temperature control for the room you spend time in.

Open-plan

Extensions & kitchen diners

Larger spaces need proper sizing, particularly where there is extensive glazing or a pitched roof.

Loft

Deal with the top floor

Loft rooms can experience greater heat gain, particularly where there are roof windows.

Home office

Your own comfort zone

Control one working space without needing to change the temperature throughout the house.

Garden room

Use it for more of the year

One system can provide both heating and cooling for a detached garden room or office.

Choosing the system

You don't need to become an air conditioning expert.

Tell us what you're trying to achieve. We'll deal with outputs, equipment selection and installation details.

Most popular

Wall-mounted air conditioning

The familiar high-wall indoor unit is usually the simplest and most cost-effective option for domestic heating and cooling.

  • Bedrooms
  • Lounges
  • Home offices
  • Loft rooms
  • Open-plan living
Alternative

Floor-mounted systems

A low-level console can work well where wall space is limited or where the room layout makes a high-wall unit less attractive.

  • Low-level installation
  • Heating + cooling
  • Useful where high-wall space is limited
  • Priced from the wall-system price + £600
Specialist

Ceiling cassettes

Cassettes can suit larger or more open spaces, but ceiling void, condensate drainage and access need to be checked before we specify the system.

  • From £2,995
  • Survey required
  • Ceiling space checked first
Designed system

Ducted air conditioning

Where a concealed system is appropriate, we'll design and price the installation individually rather than pretending an online calculator can account for every duct route and ceiling detail.

  • Designed individually
  • Survey required
  • Quoted to the property

Multi-room air conditioning

One room. Or several.

If you want air conditioning in more than one room, we can use individual outdoor units or connect several indoor units to a multi-split outdoor unit.

Two rooms

Twin system

from £2,995

For straightforward two-room combinations. Final price depends on the output required in each room and the installation routes.

Three rooms

Triple system

from £4,295

Individual room control with the equipment selected around the combined requirement.

Four rooms

Whole-home comfort

from £5,795

Larger installations are designed around the rooms, available outdoor-unit position and practical pipe routes.

Installation

Heat installs, commissions and shows you how to use your new heating and cooling system.

The installation matters

A good AC job should look like it belongs there.

Choosing the equipment is only half the job. Where the indoor unit sits, where the outdoor unit goes and how the services get between them all matter.

01

Indoor position

We consider airflow, appearance and how the room is actually used rather than automatically putting the unit on the nearest wall.

02

Outdoor position

The condenser needs a practical position with suitable airflow, access and a sensible route back to the indoor unit.

03

Pipework & trunking

We plan the service route with the aim of keeping the finished installation as neat as reasonably possible.

04

Condensate

Gravity drainage is preferred where practical. Where that isn't possible, we'll specify an appropriate condensate solution.

Air conditioning FAQs

A few things people usually want to know.

Yes. The reverse-cycle systems we're talking about here can provide both room cooling and heating from the same indoor unit.
Our standard wall-mounted single-room prices currently start at £1,495. The actual price depends on the output required and the installation. Our online calculator can give you an indicative price before we confirm the final specification.
Room area is only part of the answer. Ceiling height, glazing, solar gain, room type and other factors can affect the cooling requirement. Our calculator uses several of those factors to suggest a starting output, and we confirm final sizing before installation.
Yes. Bedrooms are one of the common applications for domestic air conditioning, particularly where rooms become uncomfortable during warm weather. Unit position and noise are considered when planning a bedroom installation.
Yes. A multi-split system can connect several indoor units to one compatible outdoor unit. Separate single-split systems can also be a good option. We'll recommend the arrangement that makes sense for the property.
Not necessarily. We prefer a natural gravity drain where the installation allows it. A pump may be needed where condensate cannot drain to a suitable point naturally.
Yes. Loft rooms can be particularly well suited to cooling, but pitched ceilings, roof windows and solar gain can affect the output required, so proper sizing is important.
Yes. Heat Leicester can provide ongoing servicing and maintenance as well as the original installation.
